The Deep Current Advantage:

Rescue Diver training is physically and mentally demanding—this isn't a casual course. Our experienced instructors create realistic emergency scenarios in a controlled environment where you can safely develop the skills and confidence to handle actual dive emergencies. Small class sizes ensure intensive, personalized coaching as you master complex rescue techniques. We push you to perform under pressure because real emergencies don't give second chances.

Course Structure:

The PADI Rescue Diver course challenges you both mentally and physically. You'll begin with PADI eLearning, studying dive accident management, emergency procedures, and rescue techniques. In our training room, we'll review scenarios and develop your emergency thinking skills. Then you'll move to Tigertail Lake for hands-on rescue exercises, learning to assist tired divers, manage panicked divers, bring unconscious divers to the surface, and perform in-water rescue breathing. You'll complete realistic rescue scenarios that combine multiple skills under your instructor's watchful eye. Finally, you'll demonstrate your abilities during the boat dive trip, proving you can apply rescue skills in real ocean conditions.

Prerequisites & Requirements:

  • Current PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or Adventure Diver with Underwater Navigation) or equivalent from another agency
  • Emergency First Response (EFR) Primary and Secondary Care certification (CPR and First Aid) completed within the past 24 months
    • We offer EFR training separately—contact us to schedule your EFR course before beginning Rescue Diver
  • Minimum age: 12 years old (Junior certification) or 15 years old (full certification)
  • Good physical fitness and health (medical clearance may be required)
  • Strongly recommended: Students should have their own mask, snorkel, fins, BCD, dive computer, and regulator for this course. Familiarity with your own equipment is crucial during emergency situations.

Why Rescue Diver?

The Rescue Diver course fundamentally changes how you approach diving. You'll develop situational awareness, learn to anticipate and prevent problems before they become emergencies, and gain the skills to help fellow divers in distress. This certification is required for PADI Divemaster and all professional-level training. More importantly, rescue training makes you a significantly better diver—more aware, more confident, and more capable of handling the unexpected.

What You'll Learn:

  • Self-rescue and diver stress recognition
  • Emergency management and response procedures
  • Assisting tired or exhausted divers
  • Managing panicked divers at the surface
  • Responding to missing diver situations
  • Underwater emergency procedures
  • Bringing unconscious divers to the surface
  • In-water artificial respiration techniques
  • Exiting unresponsive divers from the water
  • Emergency equipment deployment
  • Coordinating emergency responses
  • Post-rescue care procedures

The Challenge:

Be prepared to work hard. Rescue scenarios are physically demanding—you'll be towing divers, managing equipment, and performing rescues while maintaining your own safety. This course will push you outside your comfort zone. You'll get tired, frustrated, and challenged. That's the point. When you earn your Rescue Diver certification, you'll have genuinely earned it, and you'll have the skills and confidence to handle real emergencies.

Why Choose Deep Current Systems:

We serve divers throughout Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami with professional rescue training that doesn't cut corners. Our instructors create realistic, challenging scenarios because we're committed to producing rescue divers who can actually perform when it matters. You'll train in our dedicated facility and at quality dive sites, with small class sizes ensuring you get the intensive coaching this demanding course requires.

Dude, these hangers are clutch! Used to just throw everything in a bag and hope for the best. Now my reels hang right with my wetsuit - I can grab my whole setup in seconds. Plus that lobster gauge with the bottle opener? Absolute fire. Measured a keeper last weekend then popped a beer to celebrate. My dive buddies were jealous AF. would recommend to anyone tired of their gear being a mess.

Finally, organized dive gear!
The reel hangers are brilliant. I used to lose track of which reels I had and what was in my bag. Now everything stays with my wetsuit on the hanger. Packing for dives takes half the time because I can see all my gear organized in one spot.

Lobster gauge + bottle opener = perfection

Just used the lobster measuring stick last weekend. Measured my catch, then cracked open a cold one right on the boat with the built-in bottle opener. It's the little details like this that make Deep Current products worth every penny. Practical AND fun!
